Kanban boards for WordPress with built-in AI assistance and MCP access for AI agents.

== Description ==

KanbanWP brings visual kanban boards directly into your WordPress admin. Organize content, client work, sales pipelines, bugs — anything — on boards your whole team can share.

**Boards, stages and tasks**

* Unlimited boards with drag-and-drop stages and WIP limits
* Tasks with priorities, due dates, assignees, labels, checklists, attachments and custom fields
* Subtasks, task dependencies and recurring tasks
* Swimlanes, saved views and board templates (Editorial, Client, Sales, Bugs, Blank)
* Archive, duplicate and favorite boards; organize with folders

**Built for editorial teams**

* Link cards directly to WordPress posts and pages
* Editorial calendar-friendly workflow: Ideas → Drafting → In Review → Scheduled → Published
* Client portal with a client role that sees only what you share

**Collaboration**

* Board roles: admin, member, viewer, client
* Comments with @mentions, internal-only tasks and comments
* In-app notifications plus email digests, Slack and Discord webhooks
* Full activity feed on every board

**AI, on your own key**

* Built-in AI assistance powered by your own API key (OpenAI, Anthropic or Google Gemini) — no payment gateway needed
* Per-user monthly token caps and role-based access
* Usage is logged so you always know what AI costs you

**Automation and integrations**

* Outgoing webhooks for board events
* REST API, WP-CLI commands and an MCP server so AI agents can work with your boards
* WooCommerce integration: turn orders and products into tasks

**A note on new ownership**

KanbanWP is a brand-new plugin under new ownership. It is not a continuation of the old "Kanban for WordPress" plugin (closed on WordPress.org in 2024). If you used the old plugin, see the FAQ for migration guidance.

== Installation ==

1. Upload the plugin files to the `/wp-content/plugins/kanbanwp` directory, or install the plugin through the WordPress plugins screen directly.
2. Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' screen in WordPress.
3. Go to KanbanWP → Boards in the admin menu and create your first board.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Is this the same as the old "Kanban for WordPress" plugin? =

No. KanbanWP is a new plugin under new ownership, rebuilt from scratch. The old plugin was closed on WordPress.org in 2024 following a security issue and is not maintained. KanbanWP shares only the name's spirit — none of the old code.

= Can I migrate from the old plugin? =

Yes. Go to KanbanWP > Import / Export. If the old plugin's tables are still in your database, the Legacy importer finds them. Run a dry run first to see what will be created, then import. The importer creates new boards and tasks and leaves the old tables untouched.

= Do I need to pay for the AI features? =

No. KanbanWP uses your own API key from OpenAI, Anthropic or Google Gemini. You pay your provider directly for what you use; KanbanWP itself adds no markup and needs no payment gateway.

= What is MCP access? =

MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets AI agents such as Claude connect to your boards securely using a token you generate in Settings → MCP. Agents can list boards, read tasks and create cards on your behalf.

= Where is my data stored? =

All board data lives in your own WordPress database. Nothing is sent to third-party servers except the AI requests you explicitly make with your own API key.

= Can clients see my boards? =

Yes — enable the client portal and assign the "client" role to specific users. Clients see only the boards and tasks you share with them, and internal tasks and comments stay hidden.

== Changelog ==

= 1.0.1 =
* Tasks are marked complete when they enter a board's last stage, so Reports show cycle time and tasks completed this week.
* Add, rename, reorder and delete stages, and set each stage's WIP limit, from the board screen.
* Board roles in the members menu now match the permission model: Admin, Member, Client and Viewer. Client members can comment from the client portal.
* The Linked post field in the task panel now saves.
* Task changes made through MCP now send notifications and webhooks and run stage automation. The activity log records the agent's name.
* Stage automation sent through the REST API is now saved.
* The AI API key is encrypted in the database. The JSON export no longer includes the AI API key or the MCP token.
* New default AI models: gpt-6-luna, claude-haiku-5-5 and gemini-3.6-flash.
* The board, reports, notifications and client portal now load on sites that use plain permalinks.
* The Reports page loads data when opened from the menu without a board selected.
* Board members can edit and delete their own comments.
* Database updates run automatically after a plugin update.
* Uninstall now removes all plugin options and task links in post meta.
